Flights and International Services

We are excited to announce that Air Canada will be starting trans-Atlantic services to and from London next spring. Heathrow is one of the world’s major global gateways and also the location of Air Canada’s largest international operations. Air Canada, along with its Star Alliance partner airlines , offers easy connections to over 30 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, India, and Africa. We eagerly anticipate the future arrival of Air Canada’s upcoming fleet of Airbus A321XLR. The economics, ideal cabin size, and range of the XLR, set to commence delivery in late 2025, will allow us to explore the possibility of operating this crucial international route more frequently, potentially offering year-round service. Said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President regarding this news.

Effectively, this announcement will expand more flights to different destinations in the future. The airline has set Ottawa to operate service trials and tests in order to enhance the flight experience for customers. Doing so, Air Canada plans to operate up to 229 weekly flights to and from Ottawa next year, including regional, domestic, international, and transborder flights.

Air Canada offers a variety of international services. In the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, we find the three following options of cabins: Air Canada’s top-tier Signature Class that provides lie-flat individual pods for passengers. The Premium Economy option offers larger seats with extra legroom and premium services. Additionally,  Economy class passengers can enjoy complimentary chef-inspired meals and beverages.

Ottawa: A Proud Capital

The stakeholders of Ottawa have endorsed all these efforts and commitments. Mark Sutcliffe, Mayor of Ottawa said :

Ottawa residents and business owners were looking forward to a return of direct non-stop service to London. The restored flight will boost our local economy, and expand the international network. facilitates the travel, tourism, and business experiences. Thank you to Air Canada, the Ottawa International Airport Authority, and Ottawa Tourism for their hard work. This is a big win for Ottawa.

We are excited that Air Canada is launching a flight between Ottawa and London, which will make it easier for visitors from the UK and other key destinations to travel to Canada’s capital. This will facilitate visiting friends and family, attending conferences or sporting events, and experiencing Ottawa’s cultural gems and access to Canadian nature.
