Aeromexico impresses with the announcement of 8 new US flights for the winter season displaying its progress and market dominance. This strategic expansion covers major American cities  such as Guadalajara, Monterrey, Cancún, and Manzanillo for the holiday season. The carrier also plans to use its Boeing 737 aircraft covering the majority of routes , but the Embraer E190 will contribute, as well. These routes will link key US destinations such as Denver, Las Vegas, Orlando, Miami and Aeromexico.

Furthermore, Aeromexico’s recent operational results emphasize its leadership and growth in the aviation industry. In August, the airline noted a  10% increase in international passengers compared to the previous year, highlighting the necessity  for its cross border routes. The airline’s total capacity rose to 7,9% driven by a 13,3% increase in international operations. Hence, this increase in international traffic enhances the importance of the expansion of US routes and the connectivity between Mexico and international destinations.

Route expansion to US and Colombia

The inclusion of previously discontinued routes such as Guadalajara to Las Vegas last flown in 2014  and Monterrey to Las Vegas last  flown in 2020 shows a bold move to revive popular destinations. In addition to this, Aeromexico will  continue its route expansion by launching new flights to Colombia. Commencing on February 2025 Aeromexico will offer daily direct flights linking Mexico City International  Airport with Rafael  International Airport in Cartagena. In total, with the inclusion of the new popular route Aeromexico will operate 70 weekly flights to Colombia facilitating the connectivity between the two countries using the Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Thus, this expansion highlights Aeromexico’s goal to broaden not only in US territory but also in Latin America.

90th anniversary celebration and partnership with Delta

Regarding the historical context, Aeromexico in celebration of its 90th anniversary  has solidified its role in international aviation joining the SkyTeam alliance in 2000 which linked Mexico with the United States. Moreover, as part of its 90th anniversary, the airline introduced a new brand image that reflects an updated version of the classic Caballero Aguila. It is worth noting also that an important event of the airline’s achievements is the partnership with Delta. More particularly, this agreement gave the opportunity for more connectivity and scheduling options for the travelers from both airlines and reflects the strong relationship they have built for 21 years as members of the SkyTeam global airline alliance. In addition, Alex Antilla, Delta’s Vice President for Latin America said:

“We are proud to celebrate this important milestone for our friends and partners at Aeromexico. When we learned about the Monarch butterfly’s remarkable migration, we immediately thought about the vital connections between the U.S. and Mexico and the important role Aeromexico and Delta play in that connection”
