Singapore Airlines is ramping up its flights to India to help aid its post-COVID recovery. The Airline has seen huge demand from its Indian destinations, prompting them to add flights to cities in the South. With China still placing heavy travel restrictions on international travellers, India is a crucial market for the Singaporean carrier.

Increased Frequency to Southern Indian Destinations

Singapore Airlines will add more flights to their Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kochi services. The daily flights to Kochi will be increased to twice daily from 2 August, and Chennai flights will go from 10 a week to 17 a week from 1 September. Also, four extra weekly flights will be added to the daily Hyderabad service from 1 September.

By 1 August, the airline will operate 80 flights from eight Indian cities and hopes to increase this number in the coming months. The cities are New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kochi.

Reduced Fares to Encourage Travel

As well as increasing capacity on South Indian routes, Singapore now offers highly reduced fares for passengers flying from Ahmedabad, Kochi, Hyderabad, and Chennai to certain Southeast-Asian destinations.

Customers who book before 5 August can enjoy cheap flights to destinations such as Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and more. Flights from Ahmedabad and Kochi run between 2 August and 31 March, while flights from Chennai and Hyderabad don’t start until 2 September, ending 31 March.

Sy Yen Chen, General Manager for Singapore’s Indian operations, said: “We are steadily restoring our India operations back to pre-Covid levels to cater to the strong travel demand. These special fares and increased capacity from Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kochi will give our customers many attractive options to pick from when they plan their overseas holidays in the coming months. We hope to inspire even more confidence for international travel to and from India with our initiatives.”
